Trees

“The Tree of Eternity has its roots above and its branches on earth below”

There’s been something about yoga & trees and the intermingling of the two that has revealed amazing discoveries for me.

I am lucky to be a part of Project Greenhands – a grassroots initiative to plant trees, reforest the land and empower the people in Tamil Nadu, South India. This was one of the most moving experiences of my life. Have a look at the video I made about it:

If you haven’t yet had the incredible experience of planting a tree – I highly recommend it and urge you to do it! Let me know what you plant.

In his book “Man’s Search for Meaning”, Viktor Frankl, talks about experiences in a concentration camp and how the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances – cannot be taken away by anyone or anything. He tells a story of a woman just a few days before her death. “ Pointing through the window of the hut, she said ‘This tree here is the only friend I have in my loneliness’. Through that window she could see just one branch of a chestnut tree and on the branch were two blossoms. ‘I often talk to this tree’, she said to me. I was startled and didn’t quite know how to take her words. Was she delirious? Anxiously I asked her if the tree replied. ‘Yes.’ What did it say to her? She answered, ‘It said to me: I am here – I am here – I am life, eternal life.’”
